Good morning,The city of DuBois is centralizing its parks and recreation management following city council’s approval of a brand-new oversight authority. The DuBois Recreation Authority was officially established to manage and maintain all city-owned parks, playgrounds, trails, athletic fields, and the city pool. The five-member inaugural board has already been appointed to staggered terms, and the new authority will operate independently from the city's taxing power. Officials say the 50-year agreement will streamline facility operations, handle third-party contracts, and allow for better long-term planning for local recreational spaces.Major upgrades are on the way for the Clearfield County Courthouse. The county commissioners have unanimously approved a twenty-one thousand dollar proposal from B-R-Z Construction of Clearfield for long overdue historic renovations. Court Administrator Curtis Irwin says the project follows the recent retirement of President Judge Ammerman and will target areas that haven't been touched in decades. Upgrades include sealing leaky window panes to save on heating costs, plaster and wood repairs in courtrooms one and two, and painting across multiple judges' chambers and the children's custody waiting room. Work is scheduled to begin on May 26th with minimal interruption to daily court operations. And if you are looking to connect with local wildlife, the Elk Country Visitor Center in Benezette has released its public programming schedule for the rest of May. Upcoming weekend events include a photography journey through the seasons with outdoor enthusiast Jeff Lipniskis this Saturday, followed by an educational session on Pennsylvania's elusive bobcats on Sunday. The month will wrap up over Memorial Day weekend with interactive presentations covering basic elk ecology and a special look at the upcoming elk calving season.More news on our radioNOVO app -- [Your Name], radioNOVO News, a service of Seven Mountains Media.
