GEISINGER LEWISTOWN HOSPITAL HONORS NURSES WITH DAISY AND SUNFLOWER AWARDS
The nursing staff is at Geisinger Lewistown Hospital is amazing! We already know that, right?
Well, apparently we aren't alone in thinking so.
Geisinger Lewistown Hospital recently recognized two employees with awards! Scott Yarger, RN, received the DAISY Award and Diane Moyer, patient care unit assistant, received the Sunflower Award.
“On behalf of all of us, thank you for the care and compassion you give our patients every day, Scott and Diane.” said Stacey Osborne, vice president and chief nursing officer at Geisinger Lewistown Hospital. “You’re very special members of our team, and I want to honor you for all you do to care for our patients and communities.”
The DAISY Award is a recognition program to celebrate and recognize nurses by collecting nominations from patients, families and coworkers. It’s administered to thank nurses for the care and kindness they provide.
In his nominations, Mr. Yarger was described as empathetic, attentive and known to stand by his patients, attending to them with care and concern. Recently, a patient he cared for on three separate occasions said Mr. Yarger advocated for them, communicating well and lent a listening ear. The patient added, “I greatly appreciate everything he did to make me as calm and comfortable as possible. You are a great nurse!”
The Sunflower Award is a recognition program that honors and celebrates the skillful, compassionate care our non-licensed nursing team members provide to our patients, families and colleagues.
Ms. Moyer was nominated for her kindness and the attention and devotion she provides her patients. Her nominator described how she went out of her way to care for a pediatric patient in the emergency room waiting area, making the child comfortable and calming them with a kids’ activity pack. Ms. Moyer even carried the child’s diaper bag and cup when the mother and child needed to move to a different room.
Congratulations and keep up the good work! We appreciate you! And your co-workers!
